District 197 School Readiness

Our Preschool programs provide a bridge to school in West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan Area Schools'. Preschool classes are offered at the Early Learning and Family Resource Center and Moreland school in West St. Paul and Pilot Knob school in Eagan. Rich learning experiences in well-equipped classrooms highlight each day, with children thriving in a real school environment. Preschoolers follow a schedule similar to kindergarten that includes individual, small and large group activities.

The rigorous curriculum is aligned with K-4 programs, ensuring the best possible preparation for school. In short, our preschool programs lay the foundation for future school success by encouraging personal, social and physical development; language development; pre-reading and pre-writing skills; mathematical and scientific thinking; and enthusiasm for social studies, music and art.

School Readiness has joined forces with the Minnesota Reading Corps to imbed the most recent research-based literacy strategies into the curriculum. These strategies have proven to be effective for building a strong pre-reading foundation for preschoolers. This partnership helps to ensure that all children have what they need to be school ready and become strong readers and is a result of our commitment to providing the highest quality preschool experience for your child.
