Special Ed. Paras

Leona Carlson

I  have a B.A . from the College of St. Catherine with majors in Library Science and Communication and some graduate coursework in Education from the University of St. Thomas. I have worked in almost every sort of library, educational resource, and academic research facility. Besides School-age care I currently work with the Hennepin County Library System. That work and working with young people helps to strengthen my reader's advisory skills. I feel it is important to know what students like to read and about subjects they care about. I have been with the district substituting as a paraprofessional since 2007 and with School-age care shortly after that time.
Outside of school-age care I have four adult children and a husband.  Special interests include, of course, reading, science, gardening, and genealogy.  I am a current member of the Minnesota Library Associations Readers' Advisory group and the Minnesota Genealogical Society.
